Geography and history of Australia

I. Geography:

In Australia, 16.250.000 inhabitants live on a land of 2.971.081 square miles, it's a very big country. Australia is cut in 6 parts: Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
The main towns are Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaïde and Perth. The temperatures are hot all year but summer isn't very hot. People speak English and the currency is the Australian Dollar. The economy is based on cattle breeding.

II. History:

The number of Aboriginal people, whose culture is very rich, has dropped to 160.000 people. In this culture, there are mythical stories and paintings.
Australia was discovered by James Cook in the year 1700, it was settled by English people. This country allied itself with Great Britain during both world wars and was with the USA during the Pacific War.
