THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE

The opera began to be built in March 1959 until the month of September 1973 ! This opera was officially inaugurated by  Queen Elisabeth II on the twentieth of October 1973.

It's made of different rooms :

-The concert hall with 2690 seats

-The drama theatre with 544 seats

-The playhouse room with 398 seats

and finally the Broadwalk room with 288 seats

We can find three restaurants and six pubs ! Five rehearsal rooms and sixty rooms for the artists and so on. This opera is the symbol of Australia. Its structure is very original, it's a very good example of architectural style designed by John Utzon. The total weight of this building is 16100 tons and it's got 580 pillars. At Christmas, there are fireworks above it and the Olympic colours were reflected on it during the 2000 Olympic Games. In the concert hall, there is the biggest organ composed of 10500 pipes, 5 keyboards and 127 registers.
