The Whitsunday Anglican School(W.A.S.) |
I’m
going to write about WAS because it’s my keypal’s school.
The students in WAS are between 4 and 18 years old.
So the school is very big. All the students have to wear uniforms: a white shirt and a grey and red skirt for girls and shorts for boys. They also wear red ties.
Children start school in the morning at 8:30 am and they leave school at 3:00 pm. A lesson lasts 1 hour and 10 minutes. They have 4 lessons a day and two breaks which last about 45 minutes.
Here are some of the subjects you can take in Australia:
French – English – Maths –Science – Sports -Japanese – Drama – Music – P.E (Physical Education) – Christian ED –Graphics – Sose (it’s History and Geography) – CIT (it’s about computers . CIT means “computing and Information technology”).
The subject CIT doesn’t exist in France . According to several Australian pupils , it’s both a funny and interesting lesson but it’s sometimes difficult .
There are a lot of differences between the Australian school system and our French school system.
First they are differences about subjects: in Australia you can choose to do fewer or more subjects; in France all the subjects are compulsory even if you can choose between Spanish, English or German for languages.
Next they are differences about the type
of school:
In Australia, there are a kindergarten, a prep school, a junior school, a middle
school and a senior school all in the same buildings.
