LES RESTOS DU COEUR

September 26, 1985 on French radio "Europe 1", Coluche asked if there were people who were interested in sponsoring a free canteen in Paris and in the other large cities for the person who can’t eat... That will be the "Restaurants du coeur".

 At the end of the first campaign, eight million five thousand meals were give by the volunteers.

 Then Jean Jacques Goldman  wrote the song of the association which helped it with the money which it brought in.

 January 26, 1986, Coluche organised a TV show with famous persons to collect gifts.

 June 19, 1986, Coluche died in a motor bike accident.

 1986, in  Marseilles, a bus of the restos du coeur  gave some hot meals for the second campaign.

 October 20, 1888  the French Parliament voted the "Coluche law":  each person having made an gift, to an association, can have a tax cut.

 In 1989, the trucks of the association offered each evening hot meals to the homeless in the streets of Paris.

 In november the "Enfoirés" was created  : it’s a lot of famous persons (singers, actors...) who give concerts for the association in all of France.

 In  December 1990, the Restaurants signed a convention with the ministry to put up some people.

 In 1991  the first Workshops and Gardens of the Heart where the persons can learn to work again were created.

 In 1993 The Restaurants opened the first Babies Relays .

 In 1995 the association opened the Barge of the Heart which puts up 73 homeless for 14 nights

In 1997 the association offered courses to learn to write and read.

This year, the association is 20 years and the groups of the enfoirés is 15.

The meal includes: a section of meat (or poultry, fish, egg) with potatoes, pasta, rice, or lentils, cheese or a yoghourt,  fruit and bread.  Butter, milk, sugar are regularly added. The average value of each meal is 1 400 calories.
