The great story of the video games begins with a game called Pong created in 1952 by Willy Higinbotham and sold for the first time in 1972.
The second video game is called Space War : it’s a spaceship game created by Steve Russell.
In 1977 the Ataria 2600 is sold, it's a console created by Activision. Two years later, Space Invader is created, an improved version of Space War.
The big success of Pac Man is created in 1980 and Donkey Kong in 1981. It’s in this famous game Mario appears, probably the most famous video game character.
In 1982, Coleco creates the Colecovision, the first console with cartridges. On this console, there were Super Pac Man, Donkey Kong…
In 1983, Nintendo creates the Famicom, the first only one player console. It was a terrible success with Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Metroid…
Two years later, Nintendo comes back with the Nintendo (often called “Nes”) Fifty millions consoles were sold.
In 1990 Super Mario 3 is created, one of the most sold games in the world.
The next Nintendo console, the Super Nintendo, is created in 1991 : one more success with Final Fantasy VI, Metroid, Street Fighter II, Super Mario Kart…
In 1992, Wolfenstein 3D is created, the first “first person shooter”.
One year later, Dune II is the first “real time strategy”.
The famous Playstation (at the beginning, it was created by Sony and Nintendo) was sold for the first time in 1994.
In 1995, Blizzard, a new corporation, create a very famous real time strategy, Warcraft.
In the same year, Nintendo creates the Nintendo 64, with wonderful games like Mario 64 or Zelda: ocarina of time.
The first 128 bits console is the Dreamcast of Sega, in 1998.
The Playstation 2 is created in 2000. It’s not only a game, you also can watch DVDs, play online…
In 2001, the Gamecube, the Game Boy Advance and the X-Box are created.
In 2004, two new mobile consoles are created : the portable Playstation by Sony and the Nintendo DS by Nintendo.
This year, Blizzard creates World of Warcraft, a massive multiplayer online RPG and the DS arrives in Europe.
